Fund Recovery Services
We can recover your lost money — for a fee
After you've lost money to a scam, recovery scammers contact you posing as private investigators, cybersecurity experts, or "fund recovery specialists." They promise to trace and recover your stolen funds for an upfront "investigation fee" or "service fee." The recovery service doesn't exist, and the fee is the scam.
What to Watch For
- The recovery service contacts you before you've hired them
- Upfront fees required before any "investigation" begins
- Guarantees they can recover your money (no one can guarantee this)
- Payment requested via cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or gift cards
- Company has no verifiable physical address or business license
Examples
""We noticed you filed a complaint about investment fraud. Our team has successfully recovered funds for 200+ victims. For a one-time fee of $1,500, we can trace and recover your lost crypto. 95% success rate.""
Why it works: You've already been scammed and are desperate to get your money back. The "95% success rate" (unverifiable) and specific numbers ("200+ victims") create an illusion of legitimacy. The fee seems small compared to what you lost.
What to Do
Free resources for fraud recovery already exist: the FBI IC3 (ic3.gov), the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov), and your state Attorney General. Anyone charging you to recover scam losses is operating a second fraud.
