Fake Trading Platforms/Apps
Download our app — see profits grow, then try to withdraw
Scammers create sophisticated-looking trading apps and websites that look like legitimate investment platforms. You deposit money, see fake profits grow on screen, but when you try to withdraw, you're told you must pay "taxes" or "fees" first. The money is gone.
What to Watch For
- Platform is not registered with the SEC, FINRA, or CFTC
- You were recruited through social media, a dating app, or a group chat
- Withdrawal requests are blocked with demands for more payments ("taxes", "fees")
- The platform shows unrealistically consistent gains
Examples
""Download TradeMax Pro — our AI-powered trading platform has generated an average of 15% monthly returns for our users. First-time depositors get a bonus of $500 in trading credits.""
Why it works: The platform looks professional and shows real-time (but fake) profit numbers. Victims watch their "balance" grow, building trust before the scammer asks for more deposits.
What to Do
Before using any trading platform, verify it's registered with the SEC (sec.gov/investor) and FINRA (brokercheck.finra.org). If you can't verify the platform, it's not legitimate. Never send money to an unregistered investment platform.
